Mount Gahinga is a dormant volcano and is estimated to be the smallest of the Virunga mountains. In the Kisoro area of southwest Uganda and northwest Rwanda, this mountain is located on the boundary between the two countries. Mount Gahinga is elevated at 3,474 meters high with a caldera at the peak. This peak is part of the Mufumbira ranges, one of eight mountain chains that span Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
